Në vitin 1985, shkrimtari i njohur Jorge Luis Borges nisi të radhiste librat të cilët atij i kishin ndihmuar në jetë, ia kishin ndryshuar jetën dhe librat të cilët ai do ti rekomandonte për lexim.
Detyra iu dha nga Hyspamerica – një botues nga Argjentina, ndërsa kësisoj shkrimtari i njohur nisi të krijonte listën e tij. Libraria personale e tij përmban tituj nga më të ndryshmit, disa të përkthyer në anglisht e disa vetëm në gjuhën spanjolle.
Një pjesë e librave janë edhe në gjuhën shqipe, sikur Dino Buzzati, Dostojevski, Søren Kierkegaard, Daniel Defoe e autorë tjerë.
